Our Founder and Chairman Tess Griggs visited Romania with her local church group to distribute aid to the needy families of Gilau. While she was there she met a family consisting of father and son, Costi and little Edi. Edi had severe meningitis and Costi had little to no money to pay the hospital costs to aid his recovery. Tess who had suffered meningitis herself was so touched by the situation she decided to sponsor the family. Over the next few years with friends and acquaintances she visited a number of times to distribute shoeboxes at Christmas. It was here Christmas 2015, with the group of volunteers we now call our Trustees and Dream Team she decided to form her own charity so she could reach out to help more communities. The Little Edi Foundation was born.
Our much loved Shoebox Project. Working in the UK with local schools, nurseries, local community groups and some very hard working friends we wrap, pack and hand deliver 800 shoe boxes to the very poorest children of the Gilau and Pioen villages in Romania.
UK Youth Project
We work closely with local schools and Youth Clubs, identifying young people who need and deserve a chance to change their lives. We fund two trips per year taking the young volunteers to distribute aid where needed, helping to build a more confident and empathic young adult.
We are raising funds for the improvement of housing in rural communities in Romania. We have established links with a local Pastor and community workers. A local builder is employed from April to September to give basic sanitation, heat and water where possible.
