All year the Little Edi Foundation are raising funds for the improvement of housing in rural communities in Romania. We have established links with Florin Muresean a Pastor at the Gilau Baptist Church and local community workers. Houses and families are easily identified on a needs basis and provided with a water supply, toilet and showering facilities where possible. A local builder is employed from April to September on a self-employed basis and all work and pricing is overseen. Trustees regularly visit the sites at no extra cost to the charity.
One single stove is used to for all the heating and cooking in most of the houses in these poor Romanian communities. The stoves cost around £100 and can give a whole family the resources needed to keep warm and fed all year round. We locate families without working stoves and install where necessary. A small amount of money can go a long way to helping these families. Unfortunately to run the stove you need wood, a luxury in Romania and needed weekly. We rely on donations and family sponsorships to help run these stoves.
