Our much loved Shoebox Project is now in its fifth year. Working in the UK with local schools, nurseries, local community groups and some very hard working friends we wrap, pack and send 800 shoe boxes to the very poorest children of the Gilau and Pioen villages in Romania. Some of these children would otherwise, literally, have received no other presents at Christmas. The hard work on this projects starts from the moment we get back from the last trip. We collect donations from all sorts of organisations, and very generous people from all over the country, we try to find many different ways to raise money to purchase all the other essentials we need and then the very long process of wrapping and filling the 800 shoeboxes starts. Its a very long process, all shoeboxes are age and gender appropriate and all boxes have to be checked and inspected in order for all children to receive the essentials, it really is heartbreaking to see how grateful and excited these children are just to receive a toothbrush or a pair of socks.
If you would like to donate a shoebox, toys or just be around to help pack, please get in touch.
