The Housing Project
All year round the Foundation raise funds for the improvement of housing in the rural communities in Romania. We have established links with local community workers, to help identify families and communities on a needs basis and where possible are provided with basic necessities like a water supply, a toilet or maybe washing facilities. We have employed a local builder on a self employed basis from April to September and all work and pricing is overseen.
On our Youth Scheme trips we encourage the young volunteers to help where possible, maybe painting or buying and sourcing furniture etc.
Everyone should have the basics… like somewhere to cook.
In these poor rural communities, families generally live in just one or two rooms, one single stove is used to heat these rooms and also to cook on. These stoves cost only £100. We locate families without working stoves and install where necessary. A small amount of money can go a long way to changing the lives of these families.
